The W.O.M.B.  (Women On the Move Breaking Barriers) committee was created on July 1, 2024, by Adrianne Jones-Alston, the esteemed founder and president of the Jones Foundation for Returning Citizens Inc. W.O.M.B. is a project of the Jones Foundation for Returning Citizens Inc., dedicated to serving women who have been previously incarcerated.

W.O.M.B.B. is a re-entry peer support committee designed specifically to meet the needs of these women. Our initiative is built on the belief that every woman deserves a second chance and the opportunity to rebuild her life with dignity and support. We are committed to empowering these women, helping them overcome the barriers they face, and providing a strong network of peer support to ensure their successful reintegration into society.

At W.O.M.B.B., our mission is to create a supportive network, and a empowering environment for women reentering society after incarceration. We strive to:

  1. Provide Peer Support: Foster a supportive community where formerly incarcerated women can connect, share experiences, and receive mentorship from peers who understand their journey.
  2. Facilitate Access to Resources: Ensure that returning women have access to essential resources such as housing, employment, education, and healthcare, which are critical for their successful reintegration.
  3. Raise Awareness: Educate the public about the issues faced by formerly incarcerated women and the importance of second chances, aiming to reduce stigma and promote acceptance.
  4. Empower Through Education and Skills: Connect with programs that equip women with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive personally and professionally in their new lives.

W.O.M.B.B. is dedicated to breaking down barriers and building a brighter future for women who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Through our collective efforts, we seek to create a society that values rehabilitation over punishment and offers genuine opportunities for redemption and growth.
